The fastest relay swim crossing of the North Channel (LA) is 15 hours 8 minutes 35 seconds, achieved by Team "Bits Missing" (UK), comprising David Burke, Mary Clewlow, Andrew Smith, Kate Sunley and Jonty Warneken, on 22 June 2022. Swimming from Donaghadee, County Down, Northern Ireland, to near Portpatrick, Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, UK, they were piloted by Kieran McClelland on board ĀNANTYA, and the swim was ratified by the Irish Long Distance Swimming Association (ILDSA).

Team "Bits Missing" (all of whom have leg amputations) were the first ever group of all para-swimmers to cross the North Channel, though Burke had previously completed two other relay swims of the channel with non-disabled swimmers in 2014 and 2015.

Part of the Oceans Seven challenge, the North Channel is considered one of the hardest waterways in the world to traverse by swimmers owing to its cold temperatures, strong currents and large number of stinging jellyfish. The distance of the crossing, via the standard Admiralty Chart 2198, Southern Part route, is 18.6 nautical miles (35 km/; 21.5 mi).

The following year, Warneken became the first amputee to ever solo swim across the North Channel, completing it in 15 hours 22 minutes 41 seconds on 8 September 2023.
