The tallest clock tower is the Makkah Clock Royal Tower in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, which measures 601 m (1,972 ft) in height. It is part of a complex of seven towers called Abraj Al Bait, which lies close to Islam’s sacred Great Mosque of Mecca and whose estimated cost of $16 billion (£9.8 billion) makes it the second-most expensive building in the world. Building work was completed in 2012.
