There has been some dispute as to whether a faster goal was scored by Alfredo Mendoza (Paraguay) playing for Newell's Old Boys (Argentina) against Colo Colo (Chile) on 6 March 1992. The player claims it couldn't have been more than 6 seconds, but the official timing was 7 seconds.
